The Tropicana Troubadours were back in the theatre forming an audience takeover!  With their theatre critic hats firmly on for the afternoon they watched a performance of Smoking Apple’s innovative, ensemble puppetry piece entitled ‘In Our Hands’.  Have a sneaky peek below to have a little insight into the performance……

Currently in the middle of creating their GCSE Drama devised pieces, our young theatre makers weren’t quite sure what to expect from a show without any dialogue!  Here’s how it went –

It was really funny and really clever.  The way they changed from one place to a different place.  It was so creative.  I would have never thought of doing that’

The way they set the scene was really inventive.  They worked together so well – that really must have taken some rehearing!  It has really inspired my GCSE piece  – just using basic props in a clever way is so clever’

‘They were so co-ordinated!  I really liked it.  Can’t believe there was no words in it – just sound effects and music.  If you had told me that before I went I don’t think I would have wanted to go and probably wouldn’t have but I actually really enjoyed it!’

Can’t believe there was no dialogue and you still knew what was going on.  I have never seen anything like that before’

I really liked the peeing bit!  Made me laugh and it was clever.  It really challenged what I thought theatre was’

I really liked the character of the sea gull.  It was a great side story.  Really clever and fun story telling.’
