This workshop was run by Angela Athay Hunt who has been working with children from Uphill Primary school in Weston-super-Mare, in the lead up to Danny Boyle’s Armistice Commission, Pages of the Sea. Weston’s involvement in the National initiative is taking place at Weston-super-Mare beach on 11 November between 1pm and 3pm.
Angela worked with the children to develop a set of characters and historical narrative that will interweave throughout the event with actors interacting with the public on Weston’s beach as part of the creative activities produced by Theatre Orchard, to mark the Armistice Day centenary.
The children also explored and rehearsed the newly commissioned poem by Carol Ann Duffy – ‘The Wound In Time’, that they will poignantly read on the day to the people gathered on the beach in remembrance of the lives lost during the First World War.
