Weston Lit Fest: Writing for Change – The Poetry of Protest

Recommended age 18+

Poetry has always been a powerful tool for conveying a message of protest – against ideologies, policies, people, events, and more. But how do we express this in a way that is unique, surprising and impactful for our audience? In this FREE workshop join poet and rapper Danny ‘Craft-D’ Carlo as he guides you through writing exercises and discussions to produce lines of change, dissent and resistance, using poetic structures and images to connect audiences with your message and story.

Danny ‘Craft-D’ Carlo is a rapper, poet, educator and cultural producer. He has been featured on major channels such as ITV News and BBC 1Xtra, and performed at iconic venues such as Ministry of Sound and Roundhouse London. His debut single ‘Letter to Corbyn’ reached #1 in the iTunes UK Hip-Hop chart. He has been a Resident Poet/Rapper at Roundhouse London, a Bristol Boat Poet and is a former 2x UK Battle Rap Champion on Don’t Flop.

Watch Craft-D and a selection of local poets perform an evening of spoken word at Front Room Theatre. More information and bookings here
