Weston-super-Mare

Theatre Orchard’s work spans indoor and outdoor spaces in Weston-super-Mare, and venues have included Weston Museum, Old Town Quarry, Italian Gardens, the beach and ‘Tropicana’, the iconic venue for Banksy’s ‘Dismaland’.

Theatre Orchard also brings its ‘Engage’ programme of activity to a wide range of communities within Weston, enabling people to take part in a multitude of exciting and accessible arts, from singing and puppetry to dance and poetry.

Popular projects included ‘Weston’s Heyday’ which celebrated the town’s glory years with events including puppet making at the Museum and ‘Pages of the Sea’, Danny Boyle’s national initiative to mark the 100 year Armistice, which saw thousands of people coming together on the beach at Weston in a poignant and unforgettable gathering of remembrance.

And there have been thrills and spills galore, as the seafront and Italian Gardens have been transformed by spectacular fiestas of outdoor arts and circus, featuring international artists and jaw-dropping acts, guaranteed to take your breath away!

The award-winning Italian Gardens can be found at the end of the pedestrianised High Street in Weston town centre.

“Theatre Orchard are doing a brilliant job in cementing Weston-super-Mare’s Tropicana as an interesting arts venue. They are bringing independent, challenging productions to this coastal town that is aiming to up its creative game”

Update: Theatre Orchard’s Engagement work

In the light of the current COVID-19 guidance, we have sadly but inevitably postponed all live events and face-to-face activity as safeguarding the health and well-being of communities, practitioners and artists is our primary concern right now. However, a collective spirit of creativity and co-operation remains buoyant. We are doubly aware of the impact of social isolation and reduced human contact on wellbeing and we are re-imagining programmes digitally wherever possible. Theatre Orchard’s wider engagement programme will move to regular digital meet-ups, plus a range of bespoke sessions posted online to get you writing, singing, dancing and acting from your homes! Please follow our social media platforms to keep in the loop.

If you have any questions or needs or would just like to say hello, please contact engage@theatreorchard.org.uk
